![]() ![]() They make wood chess pieces in many popular styles. ![]() There is also the company in India - Chess Bazaar - which pays the duty on its shipments, this being included in their low prices. I can't tell you what set to buy, because of course what you like depends on personal taste. I purchased a higher-quality plastic set from the Canadian branch of Regency, and am well satisfied with it. ![]() I am familiar with a few British online chess retailers - Jacques of London, Official Staunton, Regency Chess - and they haven't left the EU just yet. Norway is part of the European Union, so in addition to Norwegian online retailers, you should have a fairly wide choice. (I have heard some of your country's great singers like Wenche Myrhe and Sissel Kirkjebo, but that does not make me an expert on things Norwegian!) Even in Norway, that might well be the case, so my first recommendation would be to find a company in Norway that sells chess sets online - I am not familiar with such companies, so I can't directly make a recommendation there. Anything better, I need to use mail-order, or, rather, an online retailer. Where I live, I can go to a store to purchase a set with pieces in tournament size - of the cheapest plastic kind, and with a roll-up vinyl board. So I would have thought finding a good quality chess set from a Norwegian retail source would not be difficult. Since Magnus Carlsen had become the World Chess Champion, they claim that Norway has gone mad for chess, that it has become a nation where the game is very popular, like Georgia or Estonia. This is because your posting contradicts some things I have been reading in the news. could enyone suggest some boards? pieces? sets? I live in Norway and have for long now wanted a real quality wood chess board as close to the tournament standard as possible, But i just cant find eny good sets. ![]()
